Its core mission is to ensure that quality, affordable medicines are supplied and available to patients across the continent by improving the capacity and scale of African pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The organisation works through partnerships with regulators, purchasers, funders, and manufacturers to address key market challenges and create a competitive pharmaceutical industry that improves security of supply, quality of medicines, and value. Key areas of activity include aggregation of supply commitments, support for voluntary licensing and technology transfer, connecting financing to viable projects, and accelerating regulatory harmonisation.
