Wellcome: strategy, investment and partners in africa
Wellcome is a global charitable foundation that supports science to solve the urgent health challenges facing everyone. We fund research around the world, across a broad range of fields and disciplines, to understand life, health and wellbeing and to deliver equitable health solutions. We have four programmes of work: one for discovery research, and three to find solutions for the challenges of mental health, climate and health, and infectious diseases.
About Me – Yolisa Nalule: I am Wellcome‘s Research Ecosystems Lead – Africa. I oversee all of Wellcome’s Major International Programmes and investments in Africa + manage a team to ensure our funding delivers on Wellcome‘s mission and Equity Framework. This includes scoping, developing and delivery of opportunities in line with our mission. Hailing from Uganda, my work doubles as an act of service in honour of the daily lives that communities such as mine continue to lose to diseases. I stand for health as a human right, equitable partnerships and the decolonising of global health.
