SWEAT Africa 2027: Calling All Founders, Investors, Researchers, and Students in Africa
Africa’s experiential start-up and venture festival returns to Stellenbosch, South Africa, on 16–17 March 2027, expecting over 600 participants from across the continent and beyond.

SWEAT Africa is a two-day experiential start-up and venture festival that brings together start-up founders, investors, venture capitalists, researchers, students, and ecosystem builders. It is not a conference. It is a community accelerator built around live pitching, mentorship, investor access, and cross-sector collaboration.
Building on a strong foundation
The inaugural edition in February 2026 brought together participants from leading South African universities, including Stellenbosch University, the University of Cape Town, the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of Pretoria, the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and the University of the Free State, alongside founders, investors, and ecosystem builders from across the continent and internationally.
For 2027, the festival is expanding. We are expecting over 700 participants spanning start-up founders, angel investors, VCs, LPs, university incubators, researchers, and students from across Africa and the world.
Who is this for?
SWEAT Africa 2027 is open to anyone serious about building on and for the continent:
Start-up founders across fintech, biotech, agritech, healthtech, edtech, circular economy, clean energy, mobility, AI, and beyond who are looking to pitch, raise capital, or find technical and strategic partners.
Investors, VCs, and angel investors scouting early-stage African ventures and looking for direct, unfiltered access to founders.
Researchers and academics with work that has commercial or social impact potential and who are ready to connect with the founders and funders who can help take it to market.
Students who are building, not waiting. SWEAT Africa was created with the belief that the next generation of African innovators are already in motion and deserve a seat at the table.
Ecosystem builders, incubators, accelerators, and corporates investing in Africa’s innovation infrastructure.
What to expect
Two days of structured, high-impact programming in the Stellenbosch Winelands:
Live pitch sessions with direct investor feedback. Mentorship and masterclasses from founders who have scaled and investors who have backed them. Curated networking designed to create real partnerships, not small talk. Sector-spanning conversations covering fintech, biotech, agritech, circular economy, clean energy, AI, and more. An outdoor, experiential format that strips away formality and creates the conditions for honest, productive collaboration.
